Yellow is a commitment, and this is the friendliest version of it I have owned. Jaune Poussin, the name means chick and the shade earns it, is a soft, milky yellow that sits closer to butter than to lemon, so it reads cheerful with grey tailoring and almost neutral against white linen.
The Epsom surface takes bright colour beautifully: the embossing gives the pigment a fine, even grain and the light bounces off it instead of soaking in. That surface is also the practical argument for this leather. Spills and dust wipe away with a cloth far more cheerfully than on smooth calf, and the stiffness keeps the flap straight through long days. The corners stayed perfect through a summer of picnics, which is more than I can say for the pale bags I owned before it.
Inside, my usual kit: phone, card holder, keys, sunglasses without their case, and a small pouch for lip balm. The 25 cm frame sits comfortably under my arm for a long lunch, and the gold hardware warms the yellow rather than fighting it.
The honest part: pale yellow forgives almost nothing. Sunscreen on your hands is the real enemy in summer, and scuffed corners on a light bag announce themselves. I wipe the handles and the flap after every sunny weekend, which takes ten seconds and keeps it looking new. If you want one bag that starts conversations and never looks sad in a photograph, keep this in mind.
