Goat leather is the quiet overachiever of the classic French skins: a fine, even grain like the skin of a pear, remarkably light for how strong it is, and it holds colour for decades without going patchy. Etoupe with Noisette, a warm dove-taupe against a hazel brown, makes this Kelly 25 a study in two neutrals that share a temperature.
Chevre has a softer drape than Epsom but more structure than Togo, and the 25 by 17 by 7 cm frame benefits: the bag stays tidy while feeling considerably lighter than a rigid calf of the same size, which matters when you are carrying it across an airport for an hour. The interior takes a phone, card holder, keys, sunglasses and a slim notebook, plus the jacket of the moment. Weight is the spec nobody lists, and after a full day of airports I appreciated how little this bag asks of a tired shoulder.
Gold hardware ties the two browns together and keeps the pairing warm rather than clinical. Both tones photograph close to each other, so the contrast is subtle; in daylight the Noisette panels step forward, under lamplight the Etoupe does.
Honest note: a two-tone bag is a commitment. It pairs beautifully with camel, cream, grey and denim, and awkwardly with strong colours that fight for attention. It is also the lightest-feeling bag I own at this size, and after a year of business travel it has kept its colour better than any calf hide in the collection.
