Vanille sits somewhere between white and warm butter — close enough to read as a neutral, yellow enough to feel like a choice. Flanked by tan leather and gold hardware on this Zip 31, it becomes a softly sunlit bag, the kind of thing that looks at home with straw hats and grey flannel alike. I bought it expecting to use it on holidays; it has ended up in my winter rotation too.
The build follows the classic two-material recipe, executed carefully: a dense canvas body under a hunter-cowhide top frame. The vanille canvas has a faint honey warmth rather than a bleached look, and the gold-toned leather above is a deeper tan, so the bag shows subtle vertical shading in daylight. Stitching along the flap is fine and consistent.
A 31 by 25 by 10 cm interior makes it my benchmark for a do-everything bag: a novel, a tablet, a scarf, a small camera, keys and a slim wallet all fit together. On days when I travel light, the bag is happy to be half full, and the retourne edges keep it from looking shapeless.
The one thing I’d tell you is that vanille is a colour you look after. It marks, gently, and it shows whatever your jeans are doing, so a pale-wardrobe mindset helps, and the canvas benefits from a light brush now and then. What you get in exchange is a bag that glows beside almost any outfit, and ages into a muted ivory that no new bag can imitate.
