This is the bag that goes outside with me, to the garden center, the Saturday market, and the school gate on a wet morning. Vert Amanda is a soft leafy green, somewhere between sage and young grass, and against a gray sky it is the most optimistic thing in the picture. Just under twelve inches across the base, it takes flowers, produce and rain covers without complaint.
Negonda calfskin gives the green a soft, pebbled surface that reads more natural than polished, so the bag feels like it belongs outdoors. The silver snap at the top is the only metal, and it stays out of the way. I like this color with cream knitwear, denim and white sneakers, and I have stopped worrying about the green clashing with anything.
What actually travels in mine: two bunches of tulips laid on their sides, a wallet, phone, keys and a canvas pouch of small change. The open top means the tulips do not have to be fought in through a zip. The interior pocket holds cards, and the base is firm enough to stand the bag on a bench while I dig for the car keys.
One note before you choose green. If your coats are all black and navy, this bag will be the only color in the frame, which is either exactly the reason to buy it or the reason to pause. And the soft Negonda will crease around heavy loads. I fold a scarf at the bottom when I carry anything awkward.
