The Farandole is the sort of jewellery that makes a plain outfit look finished, and it does it with one idea: chains of different sizes and shapes gathered into a single tangle, in which the anchor link appears and disappears as the bracelet moves. It is made in France in 750 thousandths rose gold, measures 6.89 inches around the inside, and closes with a toggle rather than a clasp.
The largest anchor link here is 0.55 by 0.35 inches, and the smaller round links open out from it, so the piece has a handmade, gathered quality rather than the regularity of a machine-made chain. Rose gold in this quantity has a weight you feel immediately, and the tone is soft enough to sit warmly on most skin, especially against white and cream fabric.
I wear mine on its own with a shirt-sleeve pushed up, where it reads as a ribbon of chain drifting around the wrist, and with everything from a linen dress to a grey suit. It is also my favourite bracelet for an evening when nothing else is needed: the tangle catches candlelight in a way that a flat bangle never will, so the wrist does the jewellery work for the whole outfit.
Two honest notes. A solid gold chain of this construction needs some care: the fine links can catch on loose knitwear and on the mesh lining of bags, so check the bracelet when you take it off. A toggle also takes a moment to seat properly, so give it both hands rather than trying to fasten it in a hurry. Made in France.
