Blue Jean is the blue of well-worn denim, softened with grey so it never turns bright, and it behaves on a bag exactly as it does on jeans: it goes with nearly everything casual and improves as it ages. Mine has been my default for school runs, errands and long cafe afternoons.
The size fits that life well. Twenty-nine centimetres across and eight deep means a small tablet, a pouch of pens and cables, keys, a snack and a paperback fit without reorganising, and the open top lets me pay for coffee without putting anything down. The strap shortens far enough to wear high on the hip, which I prefer when cycling.
Clemence is the soft, pebbled bull-calf that gives the bag its easy drape, and in this mid-blue the grain shows richly, especially around the perforated H. One thing to know: the colour sits close to denim and can pick up indigo from dark, unwashed jeans, so I keep the bag on the far shoulder from a new pair for the first weeks. After that it rarely matters. It has handled a year of school runs, cafe tables and market mornings, and the leather has come through all of it without a mark.
Silver-tone hardware keeps the look casual and clean. This is not the Evelyne you buy to impress anyone; it is the one you buy because you will actually use it four days out of seven.
