Copper is the most unexpected neutral I own. Cuivre is a burnished brown with a metallic glow, and on the twenty-nine centimetre Evelyne it behaves like jewellery: muted with cream and olive by day, luminous beside black at night. I bought it expecting a novelty and got a workhorse with a secret.
The metallic character lives in the soft Taurillon Clemence rather than on top of it, so the bag keeps the leather’s pebbled texture, and the perforated H reads clearly against the sheen. The trade-off is honest and worth stating: metallic-tone leathers rub. Corners, strap contact points and the base are where a copper finish will first show wear if you sling the bag around, so I carry this one a little more carefully than my flat-coloured Eveynes.
What it holds on a day out: phone, a compact wallet, keys, a lipstick, sunglasses and a small camera, plus a folded shawl in the evenings. The strap adjusts between shoulder and crossbody and the rear slip pocket keeps cards close without cluttering the main cavity. I also empty it onto a tray at night, because a metallic finish shows fingerprints more than any flat one I own.
Silver-tone hardware lets the copper do the talking. If you want one bag that reads as seasonal warmth in autumn and quiet richness in winter, this is the one I would pick up first. The glow is subtle enough for a desk and warm enough for an evening, which no true metallic I have carried has managed until now.
