Jaune Milton is a proper daffodil yellow, and it is the happiest object I carry. It came into my life as a gift to myself after a grim winter, and I can report that a small yellow bag makes errands measurably better, which is a scientific-sounding claim I stand by.
On the Evelyne 16, that yellow is balanced by the leather: Clemence’s grain and matte surface keep it from turning plasticky. The size keeps the statement contained too, since this is a hand-sized crossbody, sixteen by eighteen centimetres with a five centimetre profile, not a piece you have to brace for. Silver hardware reads coolly against the warm yellow, and the strap adjustment covers crossbody and shoulder carries.
I carry phone, keys, cardholder, lip balm, and on market mornings a folded tote with my vegetables goes in last. The bag holds this without distortion, though I would not add an umbrella to the list. Worn with denim and a plain tee, it carries an entire summer outfit on its own, which is more than a bag should be able to do.
Honest note: yellow is not a colour that flatters every complexion, and this one is bright rather than muted. Held at the hip, though, it never competes with your face, which is exactly why I stopped worrying about it.
For anyone tired of neutrals, or anyone who has ever been cheered up by a lemon, I recommend it wholeheartedly.
