If you are choosing between the two hardware versions of this copper-toned Evelyne, start here: silver cools the leather down and pulls it toward dusty rose, which makes the bag feel contemporary and a little unexpected. The gold version warms the same leather into bronze. I chose silver for summer and have never once regretted it.
Everything else is unchanged: soft Taurillon Clemence with its pebbled surface, a matte finish that scatters light, and a body that relaxes gently with use. It is a hand’s span of a bag, sixteen by eighteen centimeters and five deep, and the depth is what saves it, because five centimeters is enough for a phone, a cardholder and a small key pouch without any stacking.
The catch with copper tones is that they confuse shopping. This bag does not read clearly against walnut, beige and blush all at once; pick one family and commit to it. Mine lives with grey, cream and black, where the rose undertone does the talking and everything around it stays silent.
Worn crossbody, the bag sits high and neat, and the silver hardware catches the light exactly where a necklace would. It is the small accessory I reach for when a black bag feels like a shrug and a bright color feels like a speech. It is the one copper piece I do not have to think about before wearing, and three summers in, the tone has settled into something even better.
