If someone asked me to recommend one first Constance, I would put this in their hands. Black Epsom with silver hardware is the configuration that never asks anything of you: it works with tailoring, denim, a wedding outfit or a red-eye flight, and it never looks like it is trying.
Roughly six inches tall and hands-breadth wide, the classic 24 keeps everything close and accounts for itself — phone in the back, key pouch in front, cardholder and lipstick alongside, and the five-centimetre gusset means the flap shuts on its own weight. Nothing to reorganise, nothing to dig for. I keep a folded tote flat under the cardholder for groceries that appear without warning.
Epsom’s embossed grain is the practical engine here. It does not absorb a splash, does not bruise when the bag slides off a chair, and does not need conditioning or ceremony. The silver H gives the black a crispness that gold would soften — a slightly formal edge I like for evenings when the rest of the outfit is casual on purpose.
Small honesty: black shows lint and dust flecks more eagerly than mid-tones, so this one lives with a soft brush near the door and gets a five-second tidy before it leaves the house. That is the whole downside of a bag that is otherwise close to effortless. It is also the bag I recommend to anyone buying their first piece here.
