White Box calfskin is a contradiction – the most polished leather in the range in the most innocent colour – and it produces a bag that looks like a fresh bar of soap. Ten Craie here is a warm chalk white, and on Box’s glassy surface it takes on the soft reflectivity of enamel; the flap catches window light wherever you stand.
Box ages in a way that no pressed grain does. Over months, this pale surface develops a thin, translucent patina where your hands rest, so the bag gradually becomes a map of how you carry it. The silver hardware is polished and cool, sitting sharp against the cream – a touch more modern than the same bag in gold. The measurements match the rest of the 19 line, and in Box the frame reads sharper still.
Inside, my one-layer rule applies: phone, card case, keys, balm, compact. The flap holds a firm curve when new and eases with use. The strap runs at a fixed length set at the workshop, so it is crossbody on me and shoulder on someone shorter; either way, white makes any outfit look deliberate for the effort of none.
Two cautions I will not soften. Box shows scratches, and on a white surface a scratch collects a little dirt over time and darkens; most will blend into the patina, but the first few months are when they happen most. And this is not a rainy-day leather – spots should be blotted, never rubbed, and the bag stored in its dust bag away from sunlight so the cream does not tone unevenly. Handled with those two rules, it is the most quietly striking bag in this collection.
