Brown suede takes on whatever is around it: espresso beside a winter coat, caramel against linen in July. Marron Ebène sits at the deeper end, an ebony brown that stays serious even in bright light, and on this pair the lining is dyed to match instead of left black.
The reference here is H222297Z ME340, and the formula is the family one: suede goatskin upper, adjustable strap, anatomically shaped black rubber sole, and a heel of half an inch that makes the base feel like a footbed rather than a platform. The strap is the part that matters most on a walking sandal, and this one holds the foot without pinching the top.
I use mine as the sensible brown of summer: with tan leather, with denim, with anything off-white. Goatskin suede has enough snap to hold its shape at the strap while still feeling soft over the toes after the first week. Mine have done markets, two weddings and a long train journey without a single blister.
The trade-off is tonal. Because the brown is dark, scuffs and water marks read as pale lines rather than vanishing. Mine caught a rain spot in the first month; brushing faded it, but I no longer wear them when the sky looks uncertain.
Aged two seasons, the suede has darkened slightly at the toe strap and kept an even nap everywhere else, which is how good suede should behave. Made in Italy, sizes 36 to 41. A quietly dependable pair that works with nearly every bag I own.
