There is a kind of blue that belongs to train windows and folded maps, and Blue Jean is it. On this Bolide 1923 25, in Togo’s pebble grain, the blue arrives softened — like denim washed until it goes gentle — and the small vintage-case proportions of twenty-five by twenty by ten centimetres make it look like a bag with a passport somewhere in its past, even when it is only commuting.
Togo gives the little dome a relaxed arc and a tactile, matte surface that takes marks gracefully. The day-kit fits without negotiation: phone, wallet, keys, pouch, sunglasses, a paperback. The full-width zip is the right hardware for this shape — one pull and you are packed or unpacked, which matters more in a small bag than a large one.
Gold on this blue is a warmer, softer pairing than silver; against denim and grey it adds a thread of sun. Carry by the short handle or let the strap cross the body; the bag stays flat to the hip either way.
Honest notes: the Togo version slouches sooner than the Epsom versions of the 1923, so if you like the crisp suitcase line, choose the firmer leather — the trade is that nothing else drapes like this does. Also, Blue Jean pairs so exactly with denim that you should decide whether you want echo or contrast before you commit; with cream and grey it contrasts beautifully, with jeans it harmonises and almost disappears into the outfit.
For an everyday bag with a mild case of wanderlust, it is hard to improve on, and it has never once felt too small.
