I did not expect to keep a yellow bag. Then I wore this one with a navy coat through a grey February, and it has been in the rotation ever since. Jaune Milto is a clear, sunny yellow rather than a mustard, and Swift takes that kind of saturated colour better than any other calfskin in the family. It saves every outfit that needed rescuing that year.
With 23.5 centimetres of height, the Jypsiere stands tall on the hip, and I fill mine with my phone, cards, keys and a paperback I am definitely going to finish. Swift’s satin-smooth surface feels like the inside of a glove, and the silver hardware frames the yellow coolly instead of gilding it. A bright bag also makes a small mess of the theory that yellow is only for summer.
The strap-over-flap closure is the same on every Jypsiere, so I will say again what I said about the others: it takes both hands for one second, then carries perfectly on a shoulder or across the body for hours without chafing or digging in. The bag is casual by nature, and that is not a criticism.
The honest limit is the colour itself. A yellow this vivid narrows what you can wear it with, and it does quiet outfits no favours at all. But it also cannot be ignored, and on the greyest day of the week that is exactly what I want from a bag. When the light is grey, this is the bag that argues back.
