Most wardrobes have a hole exactly the shape of a true mid-grey bag – a grey that is neither pale enough to worry over nor dark enough to weigh an outfit down – and 0L Gris Meyer fills it. This is the grey of a flannel suit and a wet pavement, flat and even, without a blue or brown bias to limit what you wear it with.
In Epsom the colour reads almost like paper: matte, dense, and completely unmoved by light. The polished silver H is the one bright interruption in the surface, and the bag has exactly enough face to carry that accent. It looks, and is, restrained.
My kit is unglamorous and that is the point: long wallet slipped in flat, phone, keys, transit card in the inside pocket, lipstick. It all travels in one layer inside the flap, and the firm gussets keep things from sliding. The strap crosses my body at the hip; on a taller frame it will ride higher, near the waist.
What screens cannot show you: true mid-greys are the hardest colours to photograph well, and this bag looks considerably better in person than on any display – expect it to arrive with more depth than you saw. The other note is that grey Epsom hides scratches but not spills; an oily mark will darken a patch of the grain until it fades. A napkin at dinner, held back from the bag, prevents most of what worries you.
