Rouge Coeur is a straight, honest red, the colour of a good lipstick rather than a stop sign, and the enamel clasp on this one makes it feel hand-picked instead of loud. Enamel has a depth that plated metal does not: it catches light like a boiled sweet and then goes quiet again, which suits a red this saturated.
About two hands wide at 19 cm, four centimetres deep, it is built for the essentials and nothing else. Phone, cardholder, keys, lipstick, an earbuds case at a push. There is something liberating about a bag that simply refuses to carry clutter, and this one holds the line.
Epsom behaves the way I want a red mini to behave: rigid, even, unfussy. The grain is pressed flat, so there is no nap to soil and no gloss to fingerprint, and the colour takes the light evenly from the flap to the gussets. After a season of use mine still looks freshly unboxed on the exterior, which is rare for a daily bag.
My honest caveat: bright red shows against every neutral, so it is not the bag to choose if you prefer to blend in. It is the bag to choose when you have one outfit, no time, and need it to look deliberate. That is how I use it, and it has not missed yet. It has held its shape through crowded evenings and quick exits, and the enamel has kept its depth without a single chip. It is the sort of piece you stop shopping for once it is in the wardrobe.
