Small black bags are easy to find and hard to find well. What convinces me about the Mini 18 in Noir is the weight: chèvre goatskin keeps it almost feather-light, so it works on a crossbody strap or swinging from a wrist at a party without dragging at the shoulder by midnight.
The dome is compact — eighteen centimetres across, eight deep, fifteen tall — yet it echoes the architecture of its big sisters exactly, just scaled down. The zip follows the same curve, and the palladium-tone hardware keeps the whole bag monochrome and cool.
Contents: my phone, a cardholder, keys without the bulky fob, a lipstick and a folded twenty for the parking meter. That is its honest limit; push past it and the zip strains at the top. Chèvre’s fine grain keeps the black matte rather than oily, which is why the shade reads sharp rather than heavy.
In practice it has become my default for dinners and gallery openings, occasions where a big bag feels like bringing luggage. Noir also gives the Mini a seriousness that paler versions lack — with black boots and a navy coat it looks pared back, almost architectural, and it never asks to be explained.
What to know before choosing the Mini: this is an evening or errand bag, not a work bag. If you need to carry a tablet or a bottle, size up to the 25. For the nights when only the essentials come along, this is the shape I take.
