Some belts are chosen to match shoes and some are chosen to hold an outfit together. The Kelly 18 in gold Epsom calfskin is firmly the second kind: a warm tan strap, 0.71 of an inch wide, with the Kelly clasp in rose gold plating and a sliding system that covers 21.7 to 39.4 inches in one length.
The colour does the heavy lifting. Gold sits between caramel and sand, so it lifts navy, charcoal and olive trousers without ever looking like a costume accessory. Against denim it reads as leather should, warm and slightly used. The Epsom embossing keeps the grain even, which matters on a strap this narrow, because wide belts hide flaws that slim ones advertise.
I wear mine on the hips with straight-leg jeans and a tucked knit, then move it to the waist for a blazer over wide trousers. That relocation takes seconds and no tools.
One honest note: the rose gold buckle is a plating, so it will dull over years of handling, and gold leather darkens where the belt bends most. Both are normal, and neither stops me wearing it four days a week. Made in France.
For care, gold Epsom wants very little: a soft cloth and an occasional touch of colourless balm at the edges, and it will hold its tone for years. Avoid silicone polishes, which dull the embossing. The buckle also benefits from a wipe after wear, especially in summer when hands are not always dry.
