Few accessories work as hard as a leather bracelet you can wear with a suit and then forget, and Etoupe is the colour that makes it possible. On this single-wrap Glenan the braid is one slim line of Swift calfskin, three millimetres across, with a rose gold plated closure; the whole piece suits wrists from 5.7 to 6.1 inches and weighs less than a pair of earrings. Made in Italy.
Etoupe here is a grey-taupe that leans stone in daylight, and because the leather is smooth and finely grained, the colour looks soft rather than flat. The Glenan closure sits low and flat, so nothing digs into the inside of the wrist when you lean on a desk, and the single braid means the bracelet never feels warm or heavy, even in August.
Where it works best for me is with tailoring: a grey suit, a white shirt, this bracelet, no watch. It also pairs happily with the enamel pieces, a cream or camel bangle above it, since the matte leather and glossy enamel contrast deliberately. In summer, with a rolled sleeve and a tan, the taupe reads as the lightest kind of accessory.
One honest caveat: Etoupe is a colour that changes with wear, warming as the leather absorbs natural oils, so the bracelet you own in two years will not be quite the one you bought. I think that is the charm. Keep it away from water and creams, and coil it loosely rather than folding it. Made in Italy.
