Two metres of braided cord is roughly what it takes to wrap a wrist twice, and when the cord is Swift calfskin the result feels more like fine trim than a bracelet. This one is listed for wrists between 5.7 and 6.1 inches, with the braid at 0.12 inches, and the hardware is plated in rose gold. I bought it after borrowing a friend’s at dinner and forgetting to give it back.
The colour is a warm, slightly honeyed gold leather, and rose gold plating on the small Roulis clasp keeps the metal in the same family rather than fighting it. Because the cord is braided rather than stitched flat, the surface catches light in tiny facets, so the bracelet looks different on a table and on the arm. It is made in Italy and the finishing is fine without being fragile.
I wear mine against navy and brown most often, where gold leather reads as considered, and with a plain white shirt in summer, where it looks like a piece of holiday luggage. It also happens to be the best bracelet I own for wearing with a low-profile watch, because the two sits together without scratching anything or crowding the wrist.
Now the honest part. Swift is among the softer calfskins, so it is the leather most likely to show a scratch from a zip pull or a door handle, and it absorbs hand cream and perfume, which can darken the cord gradually. That patina is charming, but it is a commitment: wear it, love it, and keep it away from water. Made in Italy.
