Blue is the easiest colour to get wrong in enamel, because pale blues look like plastic and dark ones can vanish into a pair of jeans. Ultramarine dodges both: it is deep and saturated with a hint of violet in the mix, closer to the pigment on a painter’s palette than to anything in a menswear shop, and on palladium it looks almost lit from inside.
This narrow Clic H runs to 6.7 inches around, and the band is roughly 0.47 inches across; the enamel is plain, with a toggle that opens to reveal the letter H. The palladium finish is a cool, bright silver that I prefer against this particular blue, especially in winter light, where gold would have made the colour look older.
I wear mine most with grey and white, and quite often with navy knitwear in a near-match that reads as considered. Against raw denim it holds its own rather than fighting the indigo, which is the test most blue accessories fail. For evening, on a bare wrist with a white shirt, it is the only piece of colour needed and the metal does the formal work.
One honest observation: dark blue enamel shows fine surface lines after months of contact with desk edges and keys, and in strong sunlight it picks up visible smudges, so keep a cloth in your bag. None of that affects the mechanism, which stays firm. Store it away from perfume and sunlight. Made in France.
