Gold sandals sound like an occasion shoe until you own a good pair; then they answer a dozen ordinary questions. This Oasis is gold Epsom Heritage calfskin over a natural leather sole, with a dark natural edge and a natural heel keeping the base grown-up rather than shiny. The dark natural edge is a small decision that stops the gold looking too sweet. Under restaurant light it warms toward champagne.
Epsom’s embossed grain is firm and holds the H cut-out geometrically clean, and the gold lambskin lining means the colour continues where only you will see it. Five centimetres of heel with a 4.5-centimetre drop to the front, EU 36-41, reference H222203Z 20355. Five centimetres is enough to make a midi dress hang right and little enough to walk a city in.
I wear mine with white cotton, with black, and with denim at the end of a summer day when a metallic strap suddenly makes everything look considered. They handle dinner better than a flat sandal and stay walkable for the distance between a car and a table. I wore them to a rooftop dinner and then walked twenty minutes home without regret; with white they feel celebratory rather than bridal.
The trade-off: metallic leather shows creasing where the vamp flexes, and the natural sole needs dry weather. Keep them for evenings on solid ground and they will look after themselves. The finish is surface-level, so a soft cloth is all the care it needs.
