What I like here is the heel: wrapped in etoupe leather rather than left black or natural, so the colour runs from the strap down to the ground. Small thing, visible from a metre away, and it is the difference between a sandal that matches and one that has been thought through. From the back it reads as one continuous tone; from the side the hazelnut lining shows above the heel.
Above it, the Oasis vamp in Epsom calfskin carries the H cut-out in the same tone, with a natural leather sole underneath and hazelnut goatskin lining the insole. The heel measures two inches with a 1.8-inch difference at the front sole — a walking height, not a posing one. Sizes 36 through 41, reference H151215Z X3350. The width is average, so a wider foot may prefer to size up within the run.
Etoupe and hazelnut together suit almost any skin tone, and I wear these with stone, cream, camel and chocolate without friction. They are the pair I take when I do not yet know what the day will ask of me. They have been with me to a christening and to a long market day, which is a wide range for one sandal.
Honest note: the wrapped heel shows nicks more than a raw leather one would, and a stumble on a kerb will leave a mark. Easy to live with on a dark tone; on this one it is visible, so I take my time on stairs.
