Olive is the least demanding colour in the Chypre range. It works with khaki, which beige struggles to, with indigo denim, which red fights, and with white linen, which is the whole point of summer dressing. It is also the colour that makes cream look intentional rather than accidental.
The sandal itself is the usual recipe: suede goatskin upper, adjustable strap, anatomical rubber sole in black, calfskin over the footbed. Sole height is half an inch. Green suede over a black sole looks grown-up in a way pastel sandals rarely manage.
In daily life this is a walk-the-dog, buy-the-bread sandal. Goatskin suede softens quickly over the toes and holds its shape at the strap, and the lambskin lining handles bare skin without rubbing, even on the first hot day of the year. The black sole keeps the whole thing from reading too earthy.
One honest observation: olive is quiet in daylight and can look muddy under warm indoor bulbs, so I keep mine for the street and the park. It also darkens while wet; water marks dry back on their own, but blot first, never rub, and keep the pair away from radiators.
Over time the suede settles at the strap and the green deepens toward moss, which suits the tone; mine looks better in its second summer than its first. Made in Italy in sizes 36 through 41. A grounded sandal that never feels as if it is trying too hard.
