Pink was the one colour I had ruled out for myself, until a friend handed me this R.M.S. in U5 Rose Lipstick as a birthday swap and I never gave it back. Up close it is a deep rose with a red core rather than a pastel. Against a navy coat it is the single warm note in an otherwise grey outfit, and I have come to rely on that.
The footprint could not be more familiar if I had specified it: just over ten centimetres long, seven across, two thick. It swallows four cards plus a folded note with room to spare at the mouth, and the closure keeps a finger-friendly gap for whichever card I use most that month. On a long day out it has never once forced a mid-trip reorganisation.
Evecolor’s dry, fine surface is what keeps a rose this saturated from going chalky over time; the colour sits inside the finish rather than on top of it. The enamel fittings continue the rose into the closure, and because they are colour-cured rather than coated, they have shrugged off keys, clasps and one clumsy drop onto tile. After four months the leather shows a soft sheen only where my thumb lands every day.
If there is a catch, it is this: a warm deep pink reads a touch more muted under office lights, and stronger than you remember outdoors. Maintenance is otherwise nil — a dry cloth, and common sense around ink and new denim.
