Pale yellow is the hardest yellow to get right: one step too far and it turns acid, one step short and it disappears into the cream section of the shelf. Jaune Poussin, the soft chick-yellow shade, sits exactly in the middle, and in morning light it looks almost like fresh butter.
Silver hardware is the right match here. It keeps the tone cool and clean, where gold would have pushed it toward Easter. The bag is the Kelly Pochette in Swift calfskin, with a 22 cm frame that stands 12 cm tall and takes 7 cm of depth, and because the leather is supple the whole piece collapses neatly into a tote when I travel.
Use notes after two springs: the colour has not yellowed further or gone greasy at the handle, which is a common fate for pale leathers. What you do have to accept is that light Swift is a magnet for indigo, printed fabrics and new denim, so I keep it off dark car seats. Fresh smudges come back with a damp cloth; ground-in transfer does not. Sunlight matters too, so mine is stored in its dust bag rather than on an open shelf.
Capacity is what the size suggests. A phone, a couple of cards, keys and a lipstick go in with room left for receipts. It is a daytime bag that happens to work after six, and it flatters a tan better than any other yellow I own.
