Slate grey is what a pochette looks like when it wants to be taken seriously. Ardoise is a cool, stony grey, and lizard’s fine scales give it a mineral, almost dry-stone texture that pairs naturally with silver hardware and a wool coat.
It is 22 cm wide, 12 cm tall and 7 cm deep, the same small format with one wrist handle and a flap closure, and it carries a phone, a cardholder, keys and a lipstick, which is the evening’s shortlist. During the day I keep a compact in there too and it still closes flat.
Lizard’s density is the reason the bag looks architectural rather than soft; the flap stays planed and the corners stay sharp. It is a leather that does not forgive impact, though, and grey shows a scuffed scale more than dark colors do. I carry it in a soft pouch when it travels, and I do not set it down on stone.
Cool grey plus silver plus lizard is the most modern combination in this range, and the one I wear most in winter.
In a snowless city winter this is the pochette I carry most, because grey lizard sits between a neutral and a texture and works with wool, denim and black alike. It has one quiet quirk: the surface catches light along the scales at the flap edge, and I find that detail alone worth the money. Nothing else in my drawer does it.
