Blue Glacier is the pale cousin of a proper blue: a soft milky tone with a touch of grey-green that looks almost white in bright sun and clearly blue in shade. Across the 20.5 cm length of this pouch it reads calm rather than cute, and silver hardware stays quiet against it instead of adding a second conversation.
Summers are what this colour is for. I have carried it on holiday with a phone, a card case, a small camera and a lip balm inside, zipped shut and thrown into a beach bag or a basket, and the pale Evercolor looked no worse for a week of that. The leather’s fine grain keeps its matte finish and the pouch holds its shape even when it is nearly empty.
The honest caveat with anything this pale is transfer. New denim, dark canvas and unlined leather straps can leave a faint shadow on Blue Glacier, and once it is there it is a job for a specialist rather than a wipe. It also shows coffee drips and sunscreen immediately.
Kept for what it is – a light, bright pouch for warm days rather than an everyday workhorse – it is a pleasure, and the colour still makes me think of cold water every time it comes out of the bag. Bring it out at lunch in July and see whether you feel the same.
