In black, the same pouch becomes an evening thing. Just over eight inches wide, it looks barely there against dark clothes, and the gold hardware is the only bright note on it – the zip pull, the chaine d’ancre link detail, the small studs. On a dinner table it sits like a slim wallet that happens to hold your whole evening.
Capacity is more than it looks. A phone, card case, compact, lipstick, keys and a folded note fit without strain, and Evercolor’s fine grain keeps the shape rigid enough that the pouch stands at the edge of a table rather than flopping into the bread basket. The leather is firm but not stiff, and after a few weeks the zip runs with one thumb instead of two hands.
Honest note: black Evercolor shows dust and fingerprints less than people expect, but it does show wear as a slight sheen on the corners where the pouch is grabbed most often – usually the zip end and the bottom curve. A wipe with a soft cloth keeps it matte. It is also easy to misplace on dark furniture, and no amount of gold hardware fixes that in a dim restaurant.
Used as a bag liner it keeps small things from migrating; carried alone it replaces a handbag for a few hours.
The one to take when the bag has to be smaller than a bag.
