There is a particular pleasure in a pale blue bag on the first warm day of the year, when everyone else is still carrying black. Blue Lin is the colour of washed linen, a soft desaturated sky tone with the smallest hint of grey, and against Togo’s pebble grain it stays gentle rather than twee. Silver hardware completes the coolness.
Because the colour is light, marks are the thing to think about, and this is where Togo earns its keep: the grain scatters the surface so a scuff or a fingerprint does not sit on a flat plane the way it would on smooth leather. Dark denim remains the enemy, as it is with any pale bag, and a wipedown at the end of a long day keeps the tone even.
The size suits a light load, and I mean that as praise. A compact wallet, phone, keys, a lipstick, a compact mirror and sunglasses go in without effort, with a thin cardigan folded on top when the evening cools. Thirty centimetres wide, twenty-two tall, sixteen deep: enough structure to sit upright on a table, not enough to feel like luggage.
If your style runs to white shirts, stone trousers and canvas shoes in summer, this colour looks like it was made for the outfit. It is also the one I would least recommend for someone who wants to carry a heavy everyday bag, because pale leather and hard usage do not stay friends for long.
