Carrying white is easier than its reputation, provided you choose the right leather, and Epsom is that leather: the pressed grain is dense, even and effectively wipe-clean, so coffee on the handle is a two-minute problem rather than a permanent one. I have taken mine to two weddings and a christening without changing anything but the contents.
Craie itself is chalk-white with warmth in it, and on a rigid surface the color looks precise, like folded paper. Silver hardware keeps the temperature cool; this is a white with no cream cast at all, which matters when you pair it with cooler greys and blues. The shade is cool enough to wear with navy without the bag disappearing into it.
Occasions: garden weddings, graduation lunches, a whole summer of light clothes. The bag holds the usual minimum, pouch, compact, sunglasses, phone, and because it keeps its shape it looks composed even when it is nearly empty, which white bags rarely manage. Straw hats, linen and this bag are the summer uniform I default to.
The honest part: white Epsom’s enemies are ink, raw denim and newsprint, in that order, and once a stain sets it is there for good. Keep receipts zipped, check the bench before you sit, and wipe the corners on the day they need it. Done that, a white bag is the brightest, most useful thing in a summer wardrobe, It will outlast every white dress I own, which is the quiet advantage of choosing leather over fabric. And mine has never once felt precious.
