Rose Extreme is a bag for gardens, long lunches and heat: a vivid, fruit-ripe pink that looks completely natural in July and gleeful out of season. On Togo the surface has a soft, matte quality, so the pink feels dyed into the leather rather than sitting on top of it.
Gold hardware strikes an unlikely balance with it. The warmth keeps the pink from going neon, and the studs glow against it in the sun. I expected to find the combination too sweet; instead I found it confident, and it reads that way against linen as much as against evening silks. It also photographs like a flower rather than a warning, which is the trick with strong pinks.
Contents in high summer: phone, card holder, sunglasses, a scarf for evening terraces, plus sunscreen, which is exactly why I am glad the hardware is easy to wipe. The 30 cm frame holds it all with room left over for a light wrap after sunset. A cream silk scarf is the only accessory it needs.
The honest caveats: this pink draws attention, so days when you want to blend are not its days. Vivid dyes also show scuffs at the corners sooner than dark ones, so a quarterly check and light conditioning keep it even. It is not the bag for everyone. Stored out of sunlight, it keeps its saturation for years. It is unmistakably the bag for some days.
