Chèvre is the leather people forget until they lift it. Goat skin is light, and a Kelly 32 in Rouge H with gold hardware feels a full cup of coffee lighter than the same bag in Togo, which changes how often you reach for it. The colour does the rest: Rouge H is a deep oxblood red, brown at the edges and wine at the centre, a red you can wear to an office without anyone bracing for it.
In the hand, chèvre shows a fine, subtly crimped grain and a soft sheen that moves as the bag turns; it is more even than Togo’s pebbling and less glossy than Box. The 32 by 23 by 10.5 cm body keeps a clean, slightly relaxed silhouette, and the gold hardware warms the red exactly the way brass warms old woodwork. Wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses and a small notebook fit with ease, and the strap makes a long walk unremarkable.
It is a bag that works across seasons: with camel and brown in autumn, with navy and white in summer, and with grey flannel any time at all. Few reds manage all three.
Two honest notes. If you want the pronounced pebbling of Togo when you look closely, chèvre will read as too quiet, so see it in person before deciding. And this is a lighter hide by nature: it enjoys being carried, not overloaded, so keep the laptop and the full water bottle for a tote. Treated that way, it is one of the most rewarding Kellys in the range.
