Craie and Gold is the kind of pairing that photographs badly and looks wonderful in person. Craie is a chalk-soft off-white, Gold is the warm tan of a well-worn saddle, and brought together on an Epsom 28 they make a bag that shifts character with whatever coat is under it.
Epsom is the sensible frame for a pale bag. The embossed grain is firm and closed, so the 28 x 22 x 10 cm body keeps its lines, and a damp cloth deals with most of what a city throws at a light surface. The flap still closes with that satisfying turn-lock firmness; nothing about the mechanism has ever felt delicate.
I carry mine on days built around contrasts: cream tones over charcoal trousers, or across a black knit where the pale bag does all the work. A tan companion tone also means you are not locked into one metal temperature, and the silver hardware here keeps the whole thing clean rather than vintage.
What fits? A slim laptop sleeve is a stretch, but a folio, a tablet, a wallet, keys and a scarf pouch settle in comfortably, and the 28 stays flat against the body rather than bulging.
The honest note with any light two-tone bag is wear distribution: the pale zones collect the little scuffs that doorways and car doors create, and they all show up on the lightest part. A quick wipe and a good dustbag habit handle it, but if you want a bag that will never ask for attention, this is not that bag.
