Gris Meyer does something most greys cannot: it stays legible against tailoring. The grey here is a cool cement with a whisper of taupe underneath, enough warmth that gold hardware feels native to it, enough restraint that it never reads brown. On crisp Epsom, the result is the most board-room-ready Kelly 25 I own.
With a charcoal suit it is almost camouflaged, smarter than I expected; with cream it lightens the whole outfit; with denim it brings a formal counterweight that shortens the weekend’s informality just enough to be interesting.
Epsom does its usual service; the heat-pressed grain keeps the 25 x 17 x 7 cm shell square and confident, and the surface recovers from drizzle and dust with a wipe. Slide the sangles, hear the snap, done.
Carrying it is a small exercise in inventory: phone, cardholder, keys, compact, one lipstick; a folded pair of sunglasses fights its way into the back pocket when it must. All of it stays organized because the interior wants it that way, which is rare for a bag whose exterior looks this tailored.
The one honest wrinkle: gris meyer is so versatile that it can photograph slightly plain, and a flat product photograph turns it to grey mud. In person the taupe undertone saves it, but if your closet is entirely greys, this bag may strike you as more of the same. Wear it against texture, tweed and knits, not flat separates, and it argues for itself beautifully.
