Celeste is the blue of a Mediterranean sky photographed on film — 7N is clear and pale, with just enough saturation to avoid looking washed out, and on Epsom’s embossed calfskin the tone stays even and crisp across every panel. This Kelly Mini 2 is the summer bag I actually use, not the one I keep for photographs.
At 19 x 12 x 5.5 cm it rides crossbody over linen; silver hardware keeps the palette fresh and slightly sporty, which suits a sky tone better than gold. My usual load: phone, card holder, keys, a lip balm, and sunglasses tucked in their cloth against the back wall. Epsom’s scratch resistance means sand, straw baskets and taxi interiors leave no evidence on the shell.
Styling this blue is easier than it looks: white, cream, stone, chambray and grey all fall into place, and it gives denim-on-denim a point of brightness without shouting. In winter I carry it against dark coats almost as a joke — a square of sky under an arm — and it still works.
The honest caveats are about time, not fragility. Pale Epsom is durable, but corners slowly brighten where the embossing wears, and on a colour this light that shows as softness rather than damage. Clean it with a damp cloth after beach days, keep it away from fresh dark denim, and condition the edges once a year. Mine looks essentially new after two summers — the trade has been fair.
