Rouge H sits between burgundy and oxblood — deeper than a red, warmer than a maroon, and hard to describe without holding one. On Epsom’s even, pressed grain the colour comes out dense and slightly muted, like a good wine in a plain glass, and gold hardware over it is the classic reading of the combination.
What I like most about this shade is how it solves red. Bright red bags are a mood; they need the right coat, the right month and a certain confidence. Rouge H just needs you. It reads as a neutral with teeth — grey wool, navy, black, denim, camel, all of it works, and it flatters skin in a way cooler reds never manage.
The bag holds a phone, a cardholder, keys and a lipstick inside its 19 x 12 x 5.5 cm frame, and Epsom keeps it robust through rain and daily use, so there is no delicate behaviour required of you.
One honest note: dark red with gold is the most formal combination in this batch. It wants a coat, a dinner, a proper jacket — with a hoodie it looks slightly borrowed. That is the entire cost of owning it, and for anyone whose wardrobe already leans that way, there is no cost at all.
If you have been circling a first red bag, this is the discreet door in. A year in, mine still looks the way it did on day one.
