Jaune Poussin translates as chick yellow, and the name is honest: it is the soft, saturated yellow of a spring bird rather than a taxicab. On Epsom, the colour stays light and even, with no darker patches where the leather folds, and against silver hardware it reads graphic and modern rather than twee. I bought this as my one loud bag and it has stayed my favourite conversation piece.
In wear it is a warm-weather bag, plain and simple. With white shirts, denim and tan sandals it looks like it was always part of the outfit; with dark winter coats it turns into a deliberate accent. A phone, cards, a keyring and a lipstick fit as they do in any 19cm Kelly, and the firm Epsom walls keep the pale surface from collapsing into creases.
Maintenance is the one thing to take seriously: yellow shows transfer from dark fabrics less than white does, but more than you might expect at the corners, and silver metal can leave a mark if the bag presses against it in a closet. Store it wrapped rather than squashed.
Honest summary: this is not the bag for someone who wants to blend in, and I hope you take that as the recommendation it is.
My advice is to lean into it: a white tee, blue jeans, straw sandals, and nothing else competing. The bag will do the rest of the work on its own, and it has carried more compliments than anything else in my collection.
