Pale blue is the quietest way to wear colour, and Blue Pale does it with a sky-toned softness that gets mistaken for grey from across the room. I reach for it in spring, when the wardrobe turns to white shirts and light trousers, and it settles the whole outfit without adding weight.
Everything about this bag is the standard Evelyne recipe: twenty-nine centimetres of Taurillon Clemence, the soft bull-calf with a pebbled surface, an open top with the punched H at the centre, and a long woven strap with leather ends that adjusts between shoulder and crossbody in one pull. The leather slouches gently, which keeps the pale colour looking relaxed rather than dressed up.
Capacity is more than the shape suggests. A phone, a compact wallet, keys, a sunglasses case and a small water bottle vanish inside, and there is still space for a folded cardigan on a cool morning. The back slip pocket takes a travel card, and because the bag lies flat against the body it never feels bulky under a jacket. A folding umbrella fits on grey days, and that single test, more than any dimension, is what makes a small bag liveable.
Fair warning about pale blues: smooth indigo from dark denim and ink from receipts are the two things I guard against, and soft leather takes neither well. Handled with that small care, mine has kept its softness through a busy year, and it still looks like morning light.
