Pale grey is the quietest colour in my wardrobe and the one I reach for when I cannot decide what to wear. P0 sits on the warmer side of grey, closer to stone than to steel, and on the Evelyne 23 it looks quietly well made without announcing itself.
The Clemence grain does something specific here: because the surface is pebbled rather than flat, a pale grey reads as soft and fabric-like instead of cold and technical. Silver hardware matches that temperature exactly, and the cut-out H stays square with the 23 by 23 cm face even when the leather relaxes.
Carry reality, from my own bag: phone, keys, a zip cardholder, sunglasses, hand cream and a small notebook fit comfortably during the day; in the evening it shrinks to a phone, cards and a lipstick and still holds its line. The 7.5 cm depth is enough for a small camera if you pad it. Worn crossbody, it sits securely through flights and city walking alike.
The trade-off is honest and simple: a light grey Clemence bag will darken over years of handling, especially where hands rest on it. I consider that a patina rather than damage, but if you want a bag that stays exactly as new, this is not that bag.
For a first grey, or for anyone building a neutral capsule, P0 is hard to argue with.
