Blue Jean is the colour I blame for my habit of wearing this bag with denim on purpose. It is exactly the blue of a favourite pair of jeans washed a hundred times: soft, slightly greyed, and completely indifferent to the season or the forecast.
On the Evelyne 23, Clemence’s grain turns that denim blue into something deeper and rounder than the name suggests. The silver hardware is the right call here; gold would have pushed it somewhere dressier than I use it. The square 23 cm frame, 7.5 cm deep, keeps the bag on the hip without any stiffness in the leather itself.
What goes in: phone, keys, a cardholder, sunglasses and a small bottle of water for school runs; on weekends it swaps the bottle for a paperback and my passport. The adjustable strap is long enough for a tall frame crossbody and sits high on the shoulder when shortened.
An honest observation: double denim with this bag can look like an accident, so I pair it with white, cream or grey instead. And because Clemence is soft, this is not a bag that will hold a rigid shape for a decade; it follows your body and slowly takes on its own slouch.
For anyone who lives in jeans and wants a bag that belongs to that uniform, Blue Jean is the natural answer, and the one I keep coming back to.
