When a colour works, I want it in both hardware tones, and Rouge H proves the point twice. The gold version is warm and traditional; this silver one is cooler, sharper and, for my wardrobe at least, easier to wear with grey, navy and a wool coat.
Everything else is the familiar small Evelyne: an 18 cm wide, 16 cm tall body with a 5 cm depth, cut from Clemence, whose pebble grain gives the deep red a berry depth that smooth calfskin would flatten. Against silver, the bag turns almost modern, and the perforated H reads as geometry rather than ornament, which stays interesting for longer.
I carry it mostly on weekends: phone, key ring, a flat cardholder and a lipstick, sometimes a compact. That is realistic capacity, five slim items and the bag is full, though never distorted, because the leather gives just enough. The strap runs long enough for crossbody on my frame and stays put when I cycle short distances.
Honest limitation: what this bag cannot do is hold a full-size wallet, a phone and sunglasses at once. I tried, and the silhouette breaks up. Keep it to essentials and it behaves impeccably, season after season, which is all I ask of a bag this size.
Cooler red, smaller bag, sharper impression: that is the pitch for this one, and it has held up all year.
