Epsom changes the Evelyne 16 completely: the same shape, but upright and crisp instead of soft. If you have always liked the idea of a small crossbody that keeps its corners square for years, this is the leather that does it.
Epsom is heat-embossed, so the grain is pressed into the calfskin rather than natural to it: fine, even, and remarkably resistant to scratches and rain. Paired with Blue Jean, that denim shade arrives slightly brighter than it does in Clemence, and gold hardware gives it a warm, almost archival look. The dimensions are unchanged: 16 x 18 x 5 cm, a crossbody that sits high, out of the way of seatbelts and coat sleeves.
Because the leather is firm, capacity is more disciplined than in the soft versions. A phone, cardholder and key pouch fit cleanly; add sunglasses and the bag starts to look packed, even though nothing is actually bulging, which is the Epsom effect. I use mine for city days when I want to look tidy without thinking.
Honest trade-off: Epsom does not slouch the way Clemence does, and a knock to a rigid corner can leave a small dent rather than a soft crease. Mine recovered from a doorframe incident with warmth from my hands; not a guarantee, just what happened, and the mark is gone.
The Evelyne for people who like structure, in Blue Jean’s easy denim tone.
