Blue Brume is mist in leather form: pale, greyish and almost unsaturated. It is the quietest colour in my small-bag collection, and the one that flatters most reliably against stone-grey and off-white clothes.
On the Evelyne 16 it has a subtle advantage, since the haze of the colour hides light wear better than a crisp pale blue would. The scale of the bag helps too: a 16 cm tall, 18 cm wide body with a 5 cm gusset, worn on the adjustable strap as a high crossbody. Silver hardware is the right temperature here; gold would warm the mist into something it is not.
The load-out is my standard small-bag kit: phone, keys, a slim cardholder and lipstick, with a little space left for a compact when I want one. On a rainy city day it slips under a coat without a bulge. It is the bag I take when I want to look like I have thought about nothing, which is a compliment to it.
Honest limits: the pale blue will show a pen mark permanently. Mine met a leaking biro and still holds a faint souvenir, so keep pens zipped elsewhere. And the colour demands a certain standard of footwear; with battered trainers it reads as an apology rather than a choice.
For cool-toned wardrobes and hesitant mornings, Blue Brume is a decision made in advance, which is exactly what those mornings need.
