Rose Lipstick is not a whisper of pink; it is the color of the lipstick itself, saturated and unapologetic. I bought mine as a winter bag, to wear against a charcoal coat when the city is grey for weeks at a time. Mine came out of the box in January, and it is still the fastest way I know to look like I made an effort on a morning when I plainly had not.
Under the color sits the usual soft Clemence: pebbled, matte, and quick to take the shape of whatever presses against it, so I keep sharp objects out of the bag and let phone and cards sit loose. The grain on this piece is fine and even, more uniform than on my darker Clemence bags. The footprint is small, roughly two hands side by side, eighteen centimeters wide and sixteen tall, with five centimeters between the walls.
Intensity cuts both ways. A hot pink bag is memorable, which means colleagues notice when I carry the same one four days running, and it refuses to become a background color. If you want one that never comments on your outfit, this is the wrong one; if you want the comment, it is the best one I have found.
Silver hardware keeps the pink honest, a little cooler and a little less sweet than gold would make it, and the strap shortens enough to tuck the bag under the arm at dinner. Worn crossbody by day and looked at by night, that is the whole trick, and it works every time.
