Black with gold is the oldest pairing in leather goods, and it still works because the contrast is doing a job: the gold gives the eye somewhere to land in a sea of black. On this Danse, the 22/16/7 proportions keep the note understated — the hardware is small, the flap is smooth, and the Evercolor grain does the texturing so the metal does not have to. It looks dressy enough for dinner and plain enough for a market, which is the definition of a useful bag.
Contents: phone, key pouch, a cardholder, lipstick. The same pack-out as always, because the interior does not negotiate — one main body and a slim pocket, and anything beyond the list makes the flap work harder. What I like is the weight. Fully loaded, it still feels lighter than my phone in a winter coat pocket.
Honest note: gold hardware shows micro-scratches over time, more visibly than silver, simply because warm metal has more contrast against black dust. It is also, frankly, the louder choice — on black, gold announces, silver whispers. If you want the black bag to stay invisible, choose silver. If you want it to finish an outfit, this is the one.
Mine has been to two weddings and one airport at dawn, and it behaved at all three. The bag itself has not aged a day that I can see, which says something for black Evercolor.
