Malachite green is not subtle, and it is not meant to be: a rich, saturated emerald with a blue undertone, poured over Swift calfskin so evenly that the bag looks cast rather than sewn. An eight-and-a-half inch span, so it sits compact under the arm, and gold is the correct companion — warm metal on cool green, a combination that shows up in jewellery long before it shows up in leather. On the body, it reads as intentional.
What fits: phone, keys, cardholder, and sunglasses if the day is bright. The flap opens on a leather hinge that will soften over the years but starts firm, and the interior is the usual flat space with a single back pocket. Nothing rattles; the turnlock is snug.
Honest notes. Saturated smooth leathers like Swift show scratches as fine, dark lines, and on a colour this deep they will be visible to you — probably not to anyone else. Second, this is a statement bag with a limited friendship circle: greens and greys welcome it, while pale pinks and lilacs will not. Worn with navy, stone, ecru and chocolate brown it is spectacular, and I mean that in the older sense of the word — a thing worth looking at.
If you have been waiting to own one colour that is not a neutral, start here. The Danse in Malachite is the least apologetic bag on this page, and that is precisely the point.
