Anemone is deeper than it photographs: a purple-pink, or pink-purple, that sits on the boundary and leans one way or the other depending on daylight and what you wear beside it. In Evercolor calfskin the colour is even to the edges, and the gold hardware gives it a floral warmth — this is a bag that looks like a garden in the last hour of sun. The compact 22 cm width keeps the drama portable.
My evening set: a phone, cards, keys and a lipstick. The interior back pocket holds a folded programme, and the flap has enough curve that the bag never reads as a flat envelope. Out to dinner, I loop the strap once and carry it short under the arm; in the day, it walks across the body.
Two honest notes. Purple-pinks are famously difficult to match to reds and oranges; they want pinks, greys, whites, denims and blacks, and they know it. And in low evening light, Anemone darkens toward aubergine — gorgeous, but different from its daytime self. Buy it knowing that it changes, and it will never feel like the wrong choice.
For evening, with silver-grey or cream, it is the most alive colour I own; worn over a camel coat, it is the most alive colour on the street. On the Danse, the shade finally gets enough surface to be judged properly, and it passes.
