There are blues that whisper and blues that hold ground. Blue Agate is the second kind: a deep, slightly muted blue with the calm of a polished stone rather than the brightness of a flag. Under office lighting it looks almost formal; in daylight the depth comes through, and it is clearly a color — not a substitute for black.
Silver hardware is the right finish on it. Where gold would warm the blue toward teal, the cool metal keeps it steady, and the two sit together like a watch with a grey suit. The leather is Taurillon Clemence — pebbled, dense, soft — over the standard 26 x 18 x 12 cm Lindy frame, so it carries like every other 26 I own: handles down, strap across the chest.
A day’s contents: laptop-free, always — that is the choice you make with a Lindy. Phone, wallet, keys, glasses, a notebook, a water bottle, a scarf for summer air conditioning. The interior stays tidy because the leather’s softness lets contents nest rather than rattle.
What to know before you commit. In dim restaurants, Blue Agate reads nearly black; if you wanted a blue that announces itself at dinner, this is not it. And the polished silver fittings collect fine scratches like any polished metal — mine have a network of them now, visible only when I hold the bag at an angle, which I have decided looks earned.
