A true white bag is a commitment, and 01 Blanc is the purest version of that commitment I own: bright white, no cream in it, no grey, just leather, thread and metal. It is the bag I wear when I want the whole outfit to look freshly washed.
I carry it through the city in summer, when everything else in sight is beige and black. The medium body swallows the small stack of things a day actually requires: a clutch-sized wallet, phone, sunglasses, lipstick and keys, with the soft sides taking the shape of whatever is inside. At home it sits on a shelf like a small sculpture; in use it is as casual as a canvas tote and considerably more pleasant to touch.
The gold fittings look almost gilded against all that white, and the lock sits on its leather tab like a tidy little clasp. Handles are short and clean-edged, cut from the same hide, without added trim to distract the eye. In photographs the bag reads as one clean shape, which is why it has become the one I take when a camera is likely to be around.
The upkeep is real, and I will not pretend otherwise. White Clemence marks, and no product makes it mark-proof; edges and handles show the first wear, and the suede-side interior will eventually collect traces of lipstick and ink. If a faintly imperfect white bag would bother you, choose a cream instead. If you want the freshest-looking bag in any room, nothing else here competes.
